Ed Wiseman was bowhunting elk in Colorado in September of 1979 when he was attacked by a grizzly bear. He tried curling up and playing dead, but when the bear began shaking him and tearing at his shoulder and leg, he reached for one of his fallen arrows and plunged it into the bear's throat. The story recounts Ed's attack, his survival on the mountain over night, and his rescue. The book also contains a postscript by Ed Wiseman as well as a timeline of events and pictures.
